Helping Injured Seamen Is All We Do Serving Seaman And Fishermen Across The Nation

Although it is still early in the recreational boating season, recreational boating fatalities in the Northwest have risen by 18% over last year's rate, according to the Coast Guard. So far there have been 28 recreational boating fatalities reported in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montano, 5 more than the 23 fatalities reported by this time last year.

There have been 12 fatalities reported in Washington State, the most of any of the four states, followed by 8 reported in Oregon, and four reported in both Idaho and Montana. Of the 28 victims, 22 were not wearing life jackets, including two children who are required by law to wear life jacket when onboard a vessel. In six cases, alcohol was a primary or contributing factor.

Stacey Trueb & Jacobsen wants to remind all recreational boaters to enjoy the natural beauty and water resources of the Northwest as safely as possible. Always wear life jackets, and remember that boating under the influence is just as dangerous, if not more dangerous, than driving under the influence. Northwest summers offer some of the best recreational boating weather and opportunities in the U.S.; please enjoy them safely!
