Helping Injured Seamen Is All We Do Serving Seaman And Fishermen Across The Nation

On August 17, 2009, the Coast Guard reported that their Juneau Command, along with the Alaska State Troopers rescued seven people near Tee Harbor along the Favorite Channel approximately 15 miles from Juneau, Alaska. Five of the crewmembers were rescued by a Good Samaritan vessel, the Juneau based fishing vessel LOYAL LADY.

The Coast Guard reported that it received a mayday call from the pleasure boat reporting that the vessel was taking on water and the crewmembers were abandoning ship. The Coast Guard arrived on the scene along with the Alaska State Troopers.

Two of the crewmembers became trapped under the capsized vessel. One was able to break free and was rescued by the Good Samaritan vessel. The seventh crewmember was freed and rescued by the Coast Guard cutter LIBERTY.

The seventh crewmember, a 73 year old man, was unresponsive. CPR was started and the Alaska State Troopers transported him to Auke Bay for a waiting ambulance. The remaining six crewmembers were transported in good condition to Juneau.
