F/V LANIKAI Turns Back To Cordova, Alaska, For Crewman's Eye Injury

Earlier today, a crewman on board F/V LANIKAI sustained an eye injury off Hinchinbrook Island. The crew contacted the Coast Guard, who deployed a helicopter crew who were training nearby. They dropped a rescue swimmer to attend to the man's injury while LANIKAI headed to Cordova for medical treatment. The seas were three feet with 17mph winds. 

Coast Guard Rescues Men From Overturned Canoe

On June 28th, 2014, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel responded to a call requesting the rescue of two men whose canoe had flipped in Portage Channel. A bystander on shore called the Coast Guard, saying that he saw the two men, one 15 and the other in his early 20's, out in the water.

Coast Guard Rescues Man Fallen From Vessel

On June 23rd, 2014, Washington Coast Guard and State Ferry crews rescued a man who had fallen overboard from his boat close to Elliot Bay Marina. Preliminary reports indicate that the man was working with the fenders on the side of the boat and may have been knocked off by a wave or boat that rocked the vessel. The man called for help with his hand held marine radio, calling the Coast Guard watchstanders.
